Become a Tutor!
We are always looking for enthusiastic, reliable tutors interested in making a difference in the lives of children in chronic care. As a tutor, you will see your students greatly benefit from individualized academic attention.
To become a tutor, you must meet these requirements:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Submit a completed volunteer application
• Attend an orientation at the hospital where you choose to tutor
• Pass medical and background screenings
• Meet with your tutoree at least once a week for two hours
Volunteers will meet one-on-one with their students as often as possible, at least once a week for two hours. Through long-term commitment, tutors and students can develop a close relationship to enhance tutoring sessions.
Tutors meet with their students' classroom teachers regularly to conduct effective sessions. This ensures that students will have a smooth transition when they return to school.
You will tutor in academic subjects such as math, English, science, and social studies at a K-12 level. For younger students, you will also provide an interactive learning environment through arts and crafts and educational games.
